PHOENIX – January 18, 2010 – Global Water Resources President & CEO, Trevor Hill has been named to the 30-member Blue Ribbon Panel on Water Sustainability.
Governor Jan Brewer announced the formation of the group August 28, 2009. Its charge is to improve statewide water sustainability in a variety of ways, including increased recycling and conservation. The panel will have a number of tools at hand, involving technology, innovation, and collaboration to reduce water waste, increase the use of recycled water, and restore watersheds.
The panel consists of some of Arizona’s most knowledgeable individuals in water and sustainability, including members from local, state, federal and tribal governments, environmental groups and other non-government entities, including those from the private utility sector. Three top Arizona officials co-chair the panel: Herb Guenther, director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources; Kris Mayes, chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission; and Benjamin Grumbles, director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
The panel’s goals include advising on the feasibility and actions required to increase the statewide proportion of use of reclaimed and recycled water in Arizona to 40% by 2030, and reducing the energy needs for producing, delivering and treating water and recycled water by a significant percentage.
“I am honored to be a part of this panel with some of the most experienced individuals in the sector,” stated Hill. “Global Water has been on the mission of improving water sustainability and implementing supporting policy in the state for years. It’s gratifying to be a part of these objectives coming to fruition.”
